About The Farm
Located in Canby, Oregon, the Willamette Valley Chestnut farm was started in 2015 by twin brothers and lifelong nurserymen Bill and Bob Knopp. Bill and Bob have been growing plants in the valley since 1968, beginning with their ornamental plant nursery Colony Nursery. Now, with the help of their families, the twins have brought their extensive horticultural knowledge to grow the Willamette Valley Chestnut orchard. With several groves located across over 20 acres and featuring 7 cultivars of chestnuts, Willamette Valley Chestnuts is now offering fresh Colossal and Bouche de Betizac chestnuts to be enjoyed by you and your loved ones.
All About Chestnuts
The Harvest
From September to November, our chestnuts are hand harvested, sorted, and packaged to ensure only the biggest, freshest chestnuts arrive at your door!
Storing and Handling
Unlike most nut offerings found at the grocery store, chestnuts are a 'living nut.' You can even plant one of the nuts delivered to you and grow a chestnut tree of your own! For most culinary purposes, chestnuts should be refrigerated or frozen upon arrival until cooked for the tastiest result. Click below for different storing and handling methods.
